MNA - Newly-reappointed
Persepolis coach revealed he has returned to the club to win the Asian
Champions League (ACL) in the current season.
“When I started my job in Persepolis last season, I promised the fans that I
would win Iran’s Professional League (IPL) title and we eventually did that.
Now, we are going to win the ACL and I think it’s possible.” Afshin Ghotbi
told media on early Saturday morning at the Imam Khomeini International
Airport.
“I am so happy of coming back to my homeland. Lion-hearted Persepolis did a
great job last season and has the potential to do it once again,” he
insisted.
Ghotbi paid tribute to former Persepolis general manager and ruled out the
speculations that he left the team due to some problems with him. He
insisted,“Unfortunately, many people said I parted company with Persepolis
because of Habib Kashani but he is my close friend who trusted me more than
everybody. I consulted with him before signing the new contract with
Persepolis and I am so glad to see him once again.”
